Idris, played by Junade Khan, has quickly become a controversial presence in Weatherfield. Since arriving in May, he has charmed some residents while raising suspicions among others. Now, viewers think his latest schemes could pull Sam into a dangerous situation.
Idris Nazir’s Family Secret Shocks Alya
When Idris first arrived in Weatherfield, he was introduced as Alya Nazir’s cousin. However, he later revealed a major family secret: he is actually her uncle.
Idris explained that Sharif Nazir, Yasmeen’s husband, had an affair with his mother. This made Idris the half-brother of Alya’s late father, Kal Nazir.
His arrival also made an immediate impression at Speed Daal.
Idris stepped in when two customers refused to pay, helping Leanne Battersby and Brody Michaelis deal with the situation. Leanne soon warmed to his charm, while Brody also found himself under Idris’ wing — although that relationship has come with questionable consequences.
Could Sam Blakeman Be Pulled Into Idris’ Scheme?
Fans are now concerned that Sam Blakeman could become the latest person caught up in Idris’ games.
Sam recently caught Idris using his credit card after Idris allegedly stole it from him at the Bistro. The discovery comes after Sam admitted secretly trading cryptocurrency and running up debts in his father Nick Tilsley’s name.
Viewers suspect Idris could exploit Sam’s financial troubles to get information about the Bistro and its owner. Some also fear that Idris might use Sam’s vulnerabilities against him if he refuses to cooperate.
One fan suggested that Idris would use Sam to gather information about Nick and the Bistro, potentially threatening to blackmail him if he did not play along.
Another viewer described Idris as a “loveable rogue” who was only pretending to be friendly so he could manipulate Sam.
Others raised concerns that Idris might exploit Sam’s mental health struggles or attempt to drive a wedge between Leanne and her sister Toyah Battersby.
For now, these remain viewers’ theories rather than confirmed developments.
Idris’ Plan to Take Over the Bistro
Idris’ apparent interest in Sam comes amid his wider ambition to get his hands on the Bistro.
He has already purchased Alya’s shares in Speed Daal, making him and Leanne business partners. Meanwhile, Idris has reportedly been posting anonymous negative reviews of the Bistro, adding to the pressure on the business.
The situation became more complicated after Speed Daal customers suffered food poisoning linked to meat sourced from the Bistro. The restaurant had turned to a different supplier after problems with its usual source.
Nick has since admitted that the Bistro can no longer afford its regular meat supplier and has been forced to buy meat from Freshco.
With the business struggling, Leanne suggested that it might be time to cut their losses and sell.
During Thursday’s episode, which aired on October 15, Toyah confronted Leanne. She said she had worked out that Leanne and Idris were allegedly trying to sabotage the Bistro so they could buy it at a bargain price.
The accusation raises further questions about how far Idris is prepared to go to get what he wants.
Carla Connor-Swain Could Be Idris’ Next Target
Sam may not be the only person facing trouble from Idris. Actor Junade Khan has also teased that Carla Connor-Swain will become his next target.
Speaking to Digital Spy last month, Khan explained that Carla is not a fan of Idris and that he has his sights set on her beloved Underworld factory.
He hinted that the two characters would be heading towards a business battle, with Idris determined to get his hands on Underworld.
With the Bistro already under pressure and Carla potentially in his sights, Idris appears to have several plans unfolding at once.
Could Sam become an unwilling pawn in Idris’ attempt to gain control of the Bistro? And will Leanne realise what he is really up to before his plans go too far?
Coronation Street continues on ITV and ITVX.
