A Look Back at Ryan Connor’s Coronation Street Journey
Prescott has played Ryan Connor since 2018, but the character has a much longer history in Weatherfield.
Ryan first appeared in Coronation Street in 2006, portrayed by Ben Thompson. He remained in the role until 2010, when the character left for a university placement in Glasgow.
Two years later, Ryan returned home after being expelled from his course and struggling with cocaine addiction.
Sol Heras subsequently took over the role from 2012 to 2013, before Ryan left Weatherfield for Ibiza to pursue work as a DJ.
Prescott eventually stepped into the part when Ryan’s plans in Ibiza fell apart. The character returned to Weatherfield and moved back in with his mother, Michelle Connor, played by Kym Marsh. Since then, Prescott has continued to make Ryan his own.
Ryan Connor’s Story Continues to Take Dramatic Turns
Life has rarely been straightforward for Ryan on the cobbles. One of his most traumatic storylines saw him become the unintended victim of an acid attack carried out by Justin Rutherford, the man who had been stalking Daisy Midgeley.
Ryan later faced further difficulties involving steroid abuse and online sex work, adding more challenging chapters to his character’s journey.
More recently, he has found greater stability after being welcomed into the Connor-Swain household, alongside his aunt Carla Connor-Swain, her wife Lisa Connor-Swain and Lisa’s daughter, Betsy Swain.
His romantic life has also been back in the spotlight following a rekindling of his former relationship with Bethany Platt. However, their reunion may be heading for heartbreak. In scenes broadcast this week, Bethany discovered that she is pregnant with Kit Green’s baby following a controversial one-night stand.
While Ryan’s future on the soap remains full of uncertainty, Prescott’s new film role gives fans another reason to follow his career beyond the famous Weatherfield cobbles.
