The Maid Who Refused To Leave
Victoria confronted Elena the following morning.
Victoria: I think this household needs new staff.
Elena understood the threat immediately.
Elena: If Mr. Whitman wishes to dismiss me, I will respect his decision.
Victoria’s jaw tightened.
She could not fire Elena without raising questions.
Later, Arthur called from his office to say another business trip had been added to his schedule.
Victoria sounded delighted.
Leo did not.
Before Arthur left, Elena quietly asked if she could speak with him in private.
Victoria appeared in the doorway before Elena could explain anything.
Victoria: Arthur, you’ll miss your flight.
Arthur promised Elena they would talk when he returned.
As his car disappeared, Victoria turned toward her.
Victoria: You should learn when to stay silent.
