The Truth In Leo’s Voice
Arthur asked everyone to meet in the sitting room.
Victoria insisted Elena was inventing stories because she resented the new marriage.
Arthur looked exhausted and confused.
Then Leo entered quietly.
He had heard the raised voices from upstairs.
Arthur: Leo, I need you to tell me the truth. Has Victoria ever frightened you?
Leo looked at Elena first, then at his father.
His voice was small but steady.
Leo: She told me you might send me away if I caused trouble.
Arthur’s face changed.
Leo continued, describing the midnight visitor and the papers Victoria copied from the study.
Victoria interrupted, calling the boy confused.
Arthur stopped her.
Arthur: Let him finish.
For the first time since Victoria entered their lives, Leo was allowed to speak without fear.
